Bringing Joy to Interiors

THE BENEFITS OF INDOOR PLANTS IN HOME DECOR

As an interior designer, I'm always looking for ways to enhance the beauty and livability of a space. One of my favourite ways to do this is by incorporating indoor plants into my mood board designs. Not only do plants add natural beauty to a room, but they are also known to improve the health and happiness of those who live in the space. Below I want to share some of the ways that indoor plants can enhance your home and your life.

Indoor plants add a natural element to a space, which for me is the number one reason everyone should have them in their homes. They bring a touch of the outdoors inside, creating a connection to nature that is both calming and rejuvenating. Whether you prefer a single, large statement plant or a collection of smaller plants, adding greenery to your decor is an easy way to add life and beauty to any room.

When it comes to incorporating plants into your home, there are many options to choose from. From small succulents to towering fiddle-leaf figs, there is a plant to suit every style and preference. Plants can be placed on shelves, tables, sideboards and plant stands, or if you are short on space, hang them from the ceiling. This will also create a dramatic, cascading effect which I love. If you’re not overly green fingered, there are some great apps that will help you keep track on when to water and fertilise your plants. My favourite app to use is Planta.

In addition to their aesthetic value, indoor plants are know to have numerous health benefits, the most important being their ability to work as natural air purifiers, filtering out harmful toxins from the air and creating a healthier living environment. They can also help regulate humidity levels, reducing the risk of respiratory issues and other health problems that people may suffer from.

Another benefit of indoor plants is their ability to reduce stress and improve overall well-being. Studies have shown that plants can have a positive impact on mental health, reducing anxiety and depression, and improving mood and concentration. Indoor plants help create a peaceful and calming atmosphere that promotes relaxation and rejuvenation.

By incorporating plants into your interior design, you can create a space that is both beautiful and healthy, bringing joy and happiness to your life and home. Below are some images showing some of my favourite ways to display plants indoors. I hope this inspires you to go out and buy your first plant, or to add another plant baby to your collection.
